Figs and Flights {at home} is back! Start here if you want to see more of our 1948 home in Seattle and how we've renovated and decorated over years. We're moving Back to Hawaii and our house is officially on the market. When we renovated the kitchen back in December we found a time capsule hidden behind the cabinets. That deserves a post and/or video all of it's own! Regardless we didn't seal up the crown molding in the kitchen until the day these photos were taken. I finally added my own time capsule, as well as the previous one, back into the house at the very last minute. Enjoy a few progress pictures and those of our finished kitchen. The whole house has been professionally staged, I'd never ever have counters this clean HA! RenovationsMost of the renovation was done by my husband, Bryce, and his brother Brandon who does home building professionally. To see his work in Texas visit the website for NexGen Custom Homes. The Finished KitchenOverall the kitchen has undergone a major upgrade! It feels so bright and new in there. I still love the things that I enjoyed shopping for: white uppers, gold, hardware, backsplash, and lighting. The floating wooden shelves are such a nice change! I'd never pick the stainless steel appliances, a gas stove (the worst offense to me!), the blue lowers, or the floors for myself. The white countertops aren't my favorite, I think we have a little bit too much white going on in there. I love how much space now exists around the window. It's so much better than before. The tile backsplash and gold hardware are my favorite details, for sure. The shelves on either side of the microwave aren't big enough to be useful, I'd have kept them as cabinets in retrospect. Having a microwave isn't as convenient as I thought it would be! I do look forward to again buying an old home and fixing her up. I just hope that we are able to renovate - and then move in - next time! Similar Posts
