I'm Angela. I am the human behind Figs and Flights. In real life my hair is really curly and my interests include food, traveling, and talking non-stop. Although my words here are written (typed, actually) they revolve around delicious foods and all types of travel.
My fascination with food, and obsession with Figs, both began in early in my childhood. My Grandfather (Pap!) had a fig tree in his yard and I'd painstakingly wait for the juicy fruits to ripen all summer long. As an adult I love all things food-centric: grocery shopping, cooking, and finding the best grub in restaurants, baseball stadiums, and everywhere in between. This website is my collection of food findings, cultivated just for you. Join me in exploring the hidden eateries in Seattle's famed Pike Place market, tasting the coolest gelato in Italy, and creating works of art at home in your own kitchen.
Flights are another passion of mine and a frequent topic of conversation. Traveling it's good for the soul, regardless of the journey's distance or destination. Flying is the best way to go, in my opinion. When road trips are necessary I make a terrible (read: sleepy) co-pilot, my favorite sea-sickness medication stays in my purse at all times for the slight chance a boat is the only way to go, a. I've called Pennsylvania, Hawaii, and Washington (state, not D.C.) home and have been to Italy, Ireland, Greece, Mexico, and Canada, so I'm no stranger to airports and you bet I can pack a mean carry on bag or TSA approved baggie of liquids.
I live in Seattle, Washington with my husband, a bossy cat, and a playful dog. We (humans) manage our AirBNB property, where we welcome folks during their travels. Most days you can find me working at local non-profit, anxiously waiting for my vacation days to accrue. At home I'm happiest experimenting in my own kitchen with music blasting, over-planning my next vacation, and reading.
