We are moving back to Hawaii. Last October Bryce and I visited Oahu and began to question if we could or should move back. We'd been gone for almost 6 years yet the island still felt like home. The backstory: I lived on Oahu for just over five years, from age 22 to 27. Bryce had lived on Oahu for nearly ten years, from age 19 to 28. We left together in 2013, just after we got married, for a job promotion for Bryce. It took just three days from the LIGHT BULB idea moment to us both being fully on board with moving back. By the time we were flying back to Seattle we were THRILLED AND GIDDY to be returning to Hawaii. We wanted to have one last Seattle summer filled with long days of sunshine, outdoor concerts, and spending time in our yard - grilling, around a fire, and eating fresh figs. This lovely plan would conclude with one more Labor Dave Weekend at the Gorge before we'd catch a flight (2 adults, a senior cat, and a big dog!!) and ship our worldly possessions back across the ocean. We wanted to leave just before winter snuck back in with the rain and the darkness and the cold. 2020 had other plans, of course. No fun summer, no concerts, and no move on the horizon. We are coming back, Hawaii, just not this year! Similar Posts
