Yoga is something I'd always wanted to explore. I forced myself to try it when Bryce and I had only one car when I'd be at home with motivation to move but without any wheels. I surrendered myself the spare room floor with an iPad and a yoga mat (which I've since upgraded) and learned to slow the F&$% down for the first time in my life. It's the only workout I can do at home. TAKE A BIG, DEEP BREATH RIGHT NOW. Smile. Okay, let's do this. If you're going to tell me that yoga is boring or too slow just think of a nap and much you love those. Yoga is a little awake-and-moving nap. It leaves you feeling rested and refreshed and at least three notches happier every single time. Yoga is MAGIC and if you're ready for more, in quarantine or otherwise, I'm happy to share my favorite yoga inducing items with you! In this odd and quarantined time yoga one of very few things that makes me feel really good. (HELLO TO THE FUTURE, remember Covid-19?) I am so relieved to have a way to move without leaving my house, renting equipment, jumping frantically around my living room, or joining a "challenge group that really isn't an MLM!" I don't spend a fortune on yoga equipment but you know where to shop if you want to do just that! It's lululemon. I don't like a lot of stuff in my life so trust me when I tell you that these items are all things that I have, use, and love. I conduct an absurd amount of research before I buy something so you can trust that this list and these items are highly recommended by myself and the many others who bought them before I did. I do make a small commission when you click on these Amazon links and buy the stuff that I like! Thanks for doing that. Even if you don't buy a thing, thanks for being {right here} at Figs and Flights. Reading, looking at pictures, trying to see if my hair really is FULL OF SECRETS, whichever. I am so glad you're here. My Favorite Yoga AppsThese two apps are the ones I've used for years. Yoga Studio is best for true beginners who are needing to learn about and see each pose and type of yoga explained. There are great themes and all sorts of options. Down Dog is a little more fun and has music. This is the one I use regularly now. I love to change the type of yoga, level of intensity, the time of my practice and cool down based on how I'm feeling. Yoga MatThis Gaiam yoga mat has served me well for years. The quality is great and it comes in many colors and patterns. Mine is a few years old and the exact pattern is extinct! Yoga Mat Carrying StrapIf you're going to actually leave your house for a yoga class you'll need something to wrangle your mat with. This carrying strap makes wrangling your mat quick and easy. You don't want to ruin your post-yoga-zen in tangled up between a yoga mat that won't roll as tightly as it's carrying bag demands. Yoga DiceThese yoga dice are so fun! Roll them and do the poses. My nieces and nephews all like to play along, even the teenaged ones! I bring them on trips to try to remain a "cool aunt!" The more yoga you do the more fun you'll have with these dice. I love rolling them and putting them "in order" then finding a way to transition from one pose to another! Travel Yoga MatI had a handful of these in my Amazon 'save for later' purgatory forever. Do you really need a yoga mat for traveling? No. Will you take it everywhere with you? No. Sometimes you won't have room in your bag or you'll totally forget. When you finally take the mat with you WILL do yoga at least one time. You will. BET ME MONEY. When you arrive and pop open that suitcase you'll be so happy to see that folded little piece of sunshine waiting for you. You will be so happy you brought it and that you saved a little time for yoga while you were away. This mat has a billion other great reviews. It folds up easily and gets pretty compact. It's a little thinner than your standard mat but it's still better using a beach towel or skipping yoga. Yoga ToesYoga Toes are amazing to have regardless of an actual yoga practice. They separate and stretch your toes while releasing the stress in your feet. You've been walking on them and squishing them into shoes for your whole life, you know! Throw Yoga Toes on for your yoga cool down and corpse pose or just put them on your tootsies at the end of a long day. I love them most after a long day of adventures and walking in a new place or a Disney park! Yoga BlanketI always wanted one of these yoga blankets for myself! They're the kind you'll find at yoga studios. I find myself using this thing EVERYWHERE. It's warm and sturdy and I had to have the pink one. Chose your own color! Thank you for checking out my Yoga Favorites. Let me know if you have, buy, or love any my favorites! I hope yoga brings you joy and happiness, too. Figs and Flights is all over the internet!
