This year I visited Paris for a second time. My first trip was far too short and I never made it to the Louvre which I regretted immediately. The Louvre, the world's most-visited museum, is home to the infamous Mona Lisa painting and a must-see while visiting Paris.
First, let's start with a few tips to make the most of your travel. When visiting a huge and popular destination like the Louvre, here are your steps to success:
While typically a history and food focused traveler, I'm recommending this art museum for everyone.
Please enjoy this travel guide, featuring my Fav 5 parts of the Louvre: The Louvre {Fav 5}1. Under the Pyramids
These pyramids are infamous and being under them is even cooler than being next to them from above.
The Louvre is huge and disorienting so it's especially fun to walk into these bright and gigantic spaces from underground throughout the day. They're filled with gorgeous light and tons of artwork. 2. The Medieval Louvre aka the Louvre Castle
My history needs were met when we discovered original purpose of the Louvre, the Louvre Castle aka the Medieval Louvre circa 1109.
You can walk all around the base of the building, so cool! 3. Napoleon's Apartment
Visit the apartment of Napoleon!
The decor and size of the place is over the top and you'll love the pink bedroom and throne of history's most famous little man. 4. The Egyptian Artifacts *mostly the cats!
Cat people, this is our place.
The Louvre is filled with Egyptian artifacts like the The Great Sphinx of Tanis and many, many other art for the finest felines. You'll feel right at home throughout history, cat lovers! 5. The Mona Lisa
You've GOT to see her, Mona Lisa.
Manage your expectations before you go:
Bonus: Laduree Macarons!
Macarons in Paris! Even inside the museum's compound.
Visit the Laduree Carrousel du Louvre, we recommend the orange blossom and the salted caramel. Watch the Louvre {Fav 5} as a Video
