{Let's See Seattle} is a series of Figs and Flights posts where you can find the very best of the city of Seattle. The great eats, gorgeous spots, and weirdest attractions of Seattle and the Pacific Northwest overall come to life right before your eyes. We're not always drinking coffee while wearing rain boots! Recent {Let's See Seattle} posts include Seattle for Kids and Springtime in Seattle with the Cherry Blossoms and Tulip Fields. This post is the 2019 update for the best eats at Seattle's baseball park. Want to see the best eats from 2017 and 2018? Check it out here. 2019 Season RecapAnother baseball season has come and gone in Seattle. This year was a big one for our stadium. Formerly called Safeco Field, the stadium changed names and became T-Mobile Park. If you look closely you'll spot a few pops of the infamous T-Mobile magenta color which is tons of fun in a ballpark. We made it to five games this year, ranging from freezing cold temperatures to nice, hot, sunny days. We managed to get Club Level seats once and I finally hunted down a luxurious food item I'd been scheming to get for years. Bryce, my husband, WON free tickets to a game, and there were a ton of new and great food additions to the park. A classic favorite food remained and we got a major dessert upgrade. Ours still has the very best food of any ballpark I've ever been to! I hardly watch the game but spend my time running around finding things to eat and drink. If you're a new reader you may notice that there are no meat items here. Your girl is a pescatarian meaning that I eat fish but not meat (beef, chicken, pork, lamb, etc). Let's PLAY BALL... Veggie Buns at Din Tai FungMy favorite new addition to the park's vendors is easily Din Tai Fung. Find it in section 132. "DTF" is an institution for dumplings with restaurants throughout Seattle and around the world. They've earned Michelin Stars, guys, it's that good. This is such a fancy and non-traditional addition to our park and they have a VEGGIE BUN. A soft and warm little steamed bread roll filled with veggies and glass noodles is right up my alley. I think I started every single game with an order of these veggie buns. Two come in the order and they're small so it's a great starter for yourself, or for you and a friend! DTF also has bubble tea, which is a favorite of mine. Theirs isn't great. Sweet and Spicy Italian Sausage (Vegetarian) at The NaturalAlso in section 132 is a stand called The Natural. There you'll find the best vegetarian sausage I've ever had! That means a lot because I've tried a ton of them over the years. The sweet and spicy Italian sausage is served in a soft hoagie roll. You add your own toppings at a little bar near the stand, I went with onions and mustard. It was SO GOOD and it truly lives up to the name, both sweet and spicy. It has a really great texture and that "snap" when you bite into it, so much so that I made Bryce try it to confirm that it wasn't actually meat! If you're a meat eater who's curious about imposter items this is a great place to start! Caribbean Nachos at PaseosPaseos is a Seattle-local sandwich shop with a huge following. They specialize in Cuban/pork sandwiches and this was the first year that Paseos had a presence in the ballpark. You can find Paseos in 'The Pen'. While there are tons of nacho options in the stadium, including one IN A BASEBALL HELMET, the Caribbean Nachos from Paseos are clearly the best of the bunch when it comes to toppings. The Caribbean Nachos are topped with melty cheese, grilled onions, cilantro, black beans, and pineapple! They were delicious, messy, and felt so fancy compared to other stadium foods. Surely there's an option to add meat to these, if that's what you're into. Mini Donuts at On Deck DonutsMeanwhile, back in section 132 there are mini donuts waiting for you at On Deck Donuts. You pick your toppings from a wild array of sugary options. Yes you top your sugar with more sugar! Find some friends to share these with because they are SA-WEET. I chose Fruity Pebbles cereal and icing to top my donuts with, it was perfection. These got so much attention and questions from hungry humans nearby especially when I set the donuts in the sunlight and held a mini photo shoot! Lobster Roll in the Club LevelLast year I told you about the Lobster Roll which could only be attained by those with Club Level seats. As I PROMISED (in all caps then and now) I did try to scheme my way into the VIP section last year but I failed. This year my husband somehow got free tickets to the Club Level! Whatever, I got in and I immediately got in line for the lobster roll. The price tag was hefty at $20 but I couldn't back out after years of waiting for this upscale sandwich. The lobster roll was so decadent and delicious! It was a teeny bit overcooked although that didn't stop me from eating every bite. Overall I wouldn't say it's worth buying both a club level ticket and a $20 sandwich just for the Lobster Roll inside the park. Head to a seafood restaurant with your dollars but do try this is you happen to find yourself in the club level! Crab Fries at the Way Back Crab ShackThe Way Back Crab Shack in 187 remains my all-time favorite place to eat at T-Mobile park. If there were a Hall of Fame for ballpark food the Crab Fries at our stadium deserve to be in it. This is the only item that I repeatedly eat in the ballpark and the only one that carried over from last year's list to this years. The crab sandwich is GREAT but the Dungeness crab fries are the real MVP. The base of hot fries are topped with a generous pile of fresh crab meat. They're served with a rich white sauce, lemon wedges, and a fork. You need to use all three together to properly demolish the deliciousness. During one of our visits there was a power outage in part of the park and the Way Back Crab Shack was CLOSED. It was dramatic. We all recovered and I got crab fries again the next time. "The Cookie" at Frozen RopeSection 132 is home to the Frozen Rope Sandwich Company. They've got a hearty selection of ice creams, toppings, and cookies for building insane custom ice cream sandwiches. Frozen Rope was already on my list of favorites and this year they got a major upgrade with "The Cookie" from Metropolitan Market, a local grocery store. I consider myself a cookie expert and "The Cookie" really is the best of the best. While you can buy it in many locations around the park, the addition of "The Cookie" to the Frozen Rope lineup has completely changed the game. "The Cookie" is a major flavor upgrade from whatever subpar cookie was used in years past. It's made with great chocolate, a few nuts, and some delicious salt. "The Cookie" is also much bigger than the others so it "ruins" the sandwich structure because you cannot possibly pick one up to eat it! You now get more ice cream with your giant cookie and should also consider more napkins and spoons for sharing! Espresso at Caffe VittaWe've got espresso in the park! I ran all around the park at Tampa Bay a few years ago looking for caffeine in coffee form and it was grim. All I could find was a powdered "cappuccino" from a machine. Section 132, of course, is where you can find Caffe Vitta for coffee and espresso drinks. I shared a hot mocha with Bryce on the coldest night at the park which was perfection for me! He didn't sleep a wink that night but I was fine LOL! Local Craft BeersAnother 2019 beverage upgrade was the addition of local beer to the park! Bryce won tickets to the game from one of his favorite breweries, Reuben's, via Instagram. Their beer is now being sold in the park along with a few other local breweries. He made me take the very posed photo of him with Reuben's beer when we were there and my little blogger heart was so proud. Grape Kool-Aid with Gin at Fat's ChickenIf you're like me and not too interested in the actual baseball, or beer, follow my lead to Fat's Chicken in 'The Pen'. On their menu is a DELICIOUS cocktail made of Grape Kool-Aid and gin. Now, I know that those items don't sound particularly great together but TRUST ME they're amazing. I don't even like gin! It was sweet, refreshing, and strong. There is a very limited area in which you can actually drink your cocktail so plan to stick around Fat's for a while to finish your boozy Kool-Aid. Thanks for ReadingI hope you enjoyed the 2019 update of baseball eats! It was a great year and I look forward to 2020.
