Life fueled by food and travel

Walt Disney World {The Food}

12/11/2020

Disney Parks are some of my favorite places to visit. It's the happiest place on Earth after all!

Start here if you're researching for an upcoming Disney trip.

The FOOD at Walt Disney World has so much to offer, you've got to know where to look!

My best recommendations are:
  1. Make at least one dining reservation each day
  2. Have a snack or quick service meal in the park
  3. Order breakfast foods/snacks/coffee paraphernalia to your hotel room via Amazon Prime now. This is explained in greater detail in Disney Must-Haves.

Now let's get to it! Here are the meals, treats, drinks, caffeine, and alcohol from my recent Walt Disney World visit. Everything is arranged by park or location and the bold and green font is a link to the Disney website for each location.

I'll tell you what was GREAT and what's worth skipping.

Little Details:

Vegetarian Eats - Disney does a wonderful job of including meat-less options at every single restaurant. I eat pescatarian so you'll see some of these meat-less foods as well as seafood.

EPCOT - You won't see anything from EPCOT included in this blog post. We attended the Food and Wine Festival there which was covered via Figs and Flights {Videos}. Here's a blog post from last year on EPCOT {the best food}.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle - I did bring my own stainless-steel straw with me! You'll see it in my daily coffees and iced teas.

In the Magic Kingdom

Food:
  • Fresh fruit waffle sandwich with chocolate-hazelnut spread (aka Nutella) at Sleepy Hollow. A quick service spot. I get this exact waffle every single time I visit!
  • Scampi Pasta - linguini with shrimp, mussels, spinach, tomatoes, and onions in herb butter sauce at Tony's Town Square Restaurant. Reservations are required. This was my first visit to Tony's. The Lady and the Tramp vibes and Italian food were both stellar!
  • Curried Vegetable Crew Stew - seasonal veggies, pineapple tofu, curry sauce, and coconut rice at Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen. Reservations are required. This Jungle Cruise themed resraurant is adorable and cozy with a sense of adventure. This was THE VERY BEST vegetarian meal I ate!

Drinks:
  • Iced lattes from Joffrey's Coffee will keep you steadily caffeinated in the parks! I frequent the location in Tomorrowland while everyone else rides Space Mountain!
  • LeFou's Brew at Gaston's Tavern. The signature drink is made of frozen apple juice, toasted marshmallow, and passion fruit-mango foam. It's freezing cold, sweet, and tasty! I get one every time I visit!

At Hollywood Studios

Food:
  • Plant-based Salisbury Steak with olive oil crushed potatoes, king trumpet mushrooms, and mushroom gravy at The Hollywood Brown Derby. Reservations required. This restaurant WOWED us with the excellent food, old Hollywood vibes. It will be a must-visit spot for me in the future. (My friend Michelle adored the Famous Cobb Salad with chicken!)
  • Mango-Passion Fruit Mousse - mango mousse, passion fruit ganache, mango buttercream, and mango chocolate also at The Hollywood Brown Derby. This was THE BEST thing I ate on the whole trip! Honestly one of the best desserts I've ever had.

Drinks:
  • Iced tea from Joffrey's. They've got sweet, unsweet, and flavored teas and you can combine them!
  • Blue and Green Milk from the Milk Stand. I've never seen Star Wars yet can't pass up a novel drink. I loved green while Michelle preferred blue. I wouldn't drink these again.
  • An extra dirty vodka martini from The Hollywood Brown Derby. WHAT A MOMENT. You can order alcohol in restaurants in all of the parks (even Magic Kingdom!) and sitting down for a meal and cocktail was a magical Disney moment that I'll chase for years to come.

In the Animal Kingdom

Overall the food at Animal Kingdom just doesn't live up to the other parks. Stick to the snacks here!

  • Simba pretzel from the Thirsty River Bar & Trek Snacks. A quick service spot. Typically I eat a Mickey pretzel at least once per Disney visit but I couldn't resist the Simba pretzel! I was eating this when the election results were finalized.
  • Hot link smokehouse sandwich - a plant based sausage with mustard BBQ sauce, slaw, and crispy onions from the Flame Tree Barbecue. A quick service spot. The plant-based sausage was good and not too spicy but this was our worst meal. We utilized the mobile ordering and waited a very long time for our orders. The fries were totally cold and a BIRD jumped onto our table and stole from my friend's plate.
  • The seasonal pumpkin cupcake from Flame Tree Barbecue was delicious and so cute. Maybe cocktails and desserts are the way to go in the Animal Kingdom...
  • Pongu lumpia - a pineapple cream cheese spring roll - from Pongu Pongu. A quick service spot. This was SO tasty! You can see my friend enjoyed a colossal pretzel and a green beer.

Outside of the Parks

Disney Resorts:
  • Grilled Tofu Bowl from Contempo Cafe at the Contemporary Resort. A quick service spot. I wanted a healthy meal when I arrived on my first day and I got one. This was filling but mostly flavorless, try something else!
  • Lobster 'Thermidor' Impossible Burger from Grand Floridian Cafe at the Grand Floridian Resort. Reservations required. This was AMAZINGLY delicious, a burger patty topped with lobster-parmesan Thermidor sauce on a brioche bun.

Disney Springs:
  • Maine Style Lobster roll @ The BOATHOUSE. A sit-down restaurant, we didn't have a reservation. An AMAZING sandwich and waterfront dining experience.
  • Eggplant parmesan at Enzo's Hideaway. A classic Italian vegetarian dish and a really cool "hideaway" with great wine.
  • Cupcakes from Sprinkles. Go inside the bakery or order from the cupcake ATM! I loved my red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting and Michelle loved her pumpkin cake, too.
  • A mini Mickey cake from Amorette's Patisserie. Do NOT miss this bakery at Disney Springs. My mini Mickey cake was chocolate chiffon cake, dark chocolate mousse, and white chocolate mousse. It's a masterpiece. We've also ordered the full-size Minnie cake before with chocolate mousse + orange - highly recommended if you'll be able to eat a whole cake. (WINK) You can do it!
