I love theme parks and have been to the Disney and Universal Studios parks in both California and Florida. This post covers {the food} at Universal Studios in Hollywood, California. Here's where to find more about {the rides} at Universal Studios Hollywood. If you're looking for Universal Studios in Orlando I've got you covered. See more California parks here. Welcome to {the food} at Universal Studios Hollywood! Universal Studios does dining well and quickly. You can't make reservations for meals in advance and the process to order, eat, and clean up is both fast and efficient! Let's get right to it... ButterbeerYour first must-have item at Universal Studios is butterbeer! You'll need to visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter for this magical drink. You can order butterbeer from the cart in the middle of the park or from Three Broomsticks, the nearby restaurant. You can order butterbeer in three ways: hot, cold, or iced. I LOVE it hot, especially when it's chilly outside. We typically get several butter beers of varying temperatures throughout the day! But what IS butterbeer? Imagine a butterscotch candy made into a delicious drink. It's sweet and topped with a some delicious foam. You'll feel like a true Hogwarts student immediately upon taking your first sip. There isn't any alcohol or caffeine in butter beer. I imagine a shot of fireball and/or espresso in a butterbeer would be DELICIOUS! Three BroomsticksThree Broomsticks is the restaurant for witches and wizards inside the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The theming is incredible, the food quality is great, and the serving sizes are large. My favorite meal there is breakfast. The menu offers a Traditional English Breakfast with baked beans and black pudding, an American Breakfast of eggs, potatoes, and bacon, a Continental Breakfast array, and a Pancake Breakfast. During our recent visit Bryce got the Pancake Breakfast and I ordered the English Breakfast (without the meat). Each meal includes a drink and you can add a butterbeer, of course! Three Broomsticks has lunch and dinner, too! They've got a giant feast to enjoy, turkey legs, and an amazing sticky toffee pudding dessert. We've only had great experiences here. HoneydukesBefore you leave the Wizarding World you've got one more stop to make! It's Honeydukes, the whimsical and magical sweets shop! The whole store is colorful and fun and you'll relieve Harry's excitement of seeing the treats for the first time on the Hogwarts Express. You'll see Candy Frogs, Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans, fudge, and tons of other confections. My FAVORITE are Fizzing Whizzbees! They're bug shaped chocolates that have fruity and fizzy pop rocks inside of them. Grab a box or two for yourself to take home, you'll be glad you did. Lard Lad DonutI don't watch the Simpsons but I do love sweets and have aspirations to be the "cool aunt." If any of those things appeal to you you'll need to visit Lard Lad Donuts in the Simpsons/Springfield area. The GIANT pink donut is the biggest donut I've seen. It's surprisingly delicious and will help you win the hearts of skeptical children all around you! We shared one on a visit to Universal Studios a few years ago. While we didn't eat the whole thing at once we did manage to keep sneaking bites of it all day long. YUM. Ice CreamAnother note-worthy sweet treat from the Simpsons area is the ice cream! I don't know who Phineas Q. Butterfat is but I do know about freshly made waffle cones and soft serve swirl ice cream. This was a perfect cool treat when our recent day at Hollywood Studios warmed up. Additional Notes:We've eaten at Gru's Lab Cafe before and it the food wasn't great. They've got a delcioius Freeze Ray Smoothie there, though. Finally, I found FIGS at Universal Studios! They were fake and part of the display at the "Saul and Son's New York Deli and Market" on the little road that leads you into and out of the park, but they still made my day. Thanks so much for eating your way through Universal Studios Hollywood with me! Don't miss the post on {the rides} there, too. This is the LAST of the posts covering our recent trip to California!
