It's December 27. How was your Christmas? How is hanukkah going so far? There have been years where I've dreaded the holidays and been grateful for them to be over. This year, thanks to my family coming to my home in Seattle and the Advent project, I was excited, mostly prepared, and truly enjoyed Christmas. We visited restaurants, prepared and enjoyed home cooked meals, reheated leftovers, snuck snacks, and so on... Today we took my parents to the airport and I was ready for a cool, refreshing, and healthy smoothie. I knew I had a great idea, then I took it to the next level by adding a double shot of espresso! This Holiday Reset Smoothie with Banana, Almond Butter, and Cocoa really hit the spot and was made from ingredients that we almost always have on hand at home. Good for you and easy, it's a win-win. Use any milk and/or nut-butter you'd like, of course. Holiday Reset Smoothie with Banana, Almond Butter, and Cocoa Makes 1 large or 2 small smoothies Ingredients: 2 handfuls of ice cubes 3 peeled bananas 3/4 of a cup of almond butter 1 teaspoon of unsweetened cocoa powder 1/2 of a cup of soy milk Also needed: A blender Totally optional: Giant straws, which I buy at Bed Bath and Beyond Mint leaves Espresso shot(s) - because I am a monster! In the Blender: Put the ice cubes, almond butter, bananas, cocoa powder, and soy milk into the blender. Blend until smooth. Pour into your glass and enjoy. If you desire, include a giant straw, mint leaves, or shots of espresso. Soon enough I'll be back into the fridge and the leftovers, but it felt great to sneak in this delicious smoothie.
