If you're new around here you may want to read the basics of Disney Parks, a Disneyland travel guide, and/or a Disney's California Adventure Park (DCA) travel guide for more Disney Magic. Epcot is one of the 4 parks at Walt Disney World (WDW) in Orlando, Florida. It's easily recognized by the hhhuuuugggeee silver golf-ball-look-alike that is formally called Spaceship Earth. The Epcot park is focused on technology, sustainability, and International cultures. On the list of favorite WDW parks, Epcot is second (to Magic Kingdom) for me. It's a little less Disney-magical and a little more "mature" with adventures, learning, the feeling of going around the world in a day, and the option to have an adult beverage! My Fav 5 for Epcot include:
1. As you make your way (counter clockwise) around the lake/World Showcase, you'll first get to Canada. That's where you'll find the unassuming Refreshment Port. Do not pass the Refreshment Port, take your wallet and go DIRECTLY to the Refreshment Port. The Refreshment Port opens at 11 am and, of course, has your basic snacks and beverages like chicken nuggets, ice cream, soda, milk, and bottled water. There's poutine (French fries with gravy and) topped with cheese curds and a take on a Bloody Mary called the "Stow Away Mary" that comes with blue cheese stuffed olives and chicken nuggets because, well, you're in Canada. The real show stopper is the Cinnamon and Sugar Croissant Doughnut (or cronut) topped with Soft-serve Ice Cream for $6.49. It is a hot, layered masterpiece of crispy yet doughy pastry topped with cool and rapidly melting ice cream. It's amazing and by far the best thing I ate in Epcot. There is, however, a steep learning curve on how to eat such a monstrous treat. With 5 kids around to assist I sent them for a spoon, then a knife, and so, so many napkins. It turns out, as you'll see, the best way to enjoy this treat is with your hands! Just peel away a few layers of donut and scoop up the ice cream with it, like you're eating chips and salsa. After Canada you'll reach the United Kingdom. You'll soon reach the American Adventure ... This 'Hidden Mickey' in a painting in the American Adventure, in America, was our FAVORITE of all of the many Mikeys we discovered. Next up is Italy. Biergarten Restaurant in Germany. We went at 3:00 pm at the very end of the lunch hours.
All you can eat for $price. Our resident tweenaged boy ate 7 plates. Pescatarian friendly with shrimp and salmon. BEER. Jaegar.
