Falling into Halloween {Life and Links}

For my fellow SUMMER lovers and my future self, specifically. As summer turns into a frosty fall, here's a little recap of what I did to ease the pain this year.

Remember that you have Halloween and then Christmas to look forward to, even when you're cold! Leaves are pretty, blankets are cozy, and you can actually drink hot drinks and eat soup every day.

You can't help but take a second look at blue skies and bright orange leaves.

Appreciate the colors.

Fall isn't my FAVORITE, I actually think it's the worst because it's the end of summer which is the BEST.

Regardless I keep my eyes open to the gorgeous colors of the season and its leaves. They'll be gone, soon, so appreciate them while they're still here.

Enjoy Halloween Books and Movies.

I'm obsessed with the Seattle Public Library. Throughout September and October I requested and borrowed many scary movies to celebrate the spookiest season. In related news, I'm now sleeping with a night light! More on that in a few...
Now for the books which oddly weren't from the library!

I found the 'Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark' books from my childhood in a local bookstore and immediately bought it. The three books have been combined into one larger, hardback book. Bryce and I have taken turns reading them aloud to each other! This is my new favorite Halloween tradition.

While we were in Hawaii I picked up another book 'The Best of Hawaii's Best Spooky Tales' and they're MUCH scarier than the young adult lit mentioned previously.

Keep Your Your Lips Soft and Your Drinks Hot.

Here's where we're getting into it.

With the heat turned on in my office, car, and house, my lips are so dry and chapped. My friend Teeny let me use a swipe of her favorite chapstick a few months ago and I've bought many for myself since. It's so smooth and the scent is amazing. Bonus points because Burt's is 100% natural.

Don't wait any longer or keep a purse full of chapsticks you HATE, get the Burt's Bees Coconut and Pear Lip Balm right now. I use this lip balm multiple times a day and hate when I'm without it. I have one at my desk and another in my purse, it's that good.

I can't get enough hot drinks in the colder months and recently tried all of the Four Sigmatic Drinks I could find. The clear BEST is the 'Think with Lions Mane' Mushroom Elixir, I drink one everyday at work. I even took a few packets and drank them on my vacation.

The drinks are made from mushrooms but you'd never know by the taste. They're a happy medium between tea and coffee, flavor wise, and they've kept me warm and energized in the late morning and/or early afternoon when I'd typically run to Starbucks instead. These packets aren't cheap but they are less expensive than hitting up a coffee shop daily.

Celebrate Halloween!

Decorate the house "too early!"

Be the house with the "good candy."

Put together an amazing costume for yourself, your partner, all of your friends and/or family members.

Go to a Halloween party or two, trick-or-treating, or to Disneyland!

Tomorrow's blog post will cover our Disneyland visit and the Halloween party there, HAPPY HALLOWEEN y'all.
